So I've been getting more and more into photography and have finally started doing photoshoots for people! It has been a great learning experience and so much fun!

I entered one of my photos in the Salt Lake County Fair and got 2nd place and then entered it in the Utah State Fair and got 4th place! It's super competitive and hard to win at the State Fair, so I am super proud of that ribbon! First time entering and I had to enter in the Advanced Amateur category because I have sold prints and have been paid for photo shoots.

So I haven't been posting much on here because I've been focusing on my photography and haven't been doing much artwork. I assume that will change once winter hits and I'm not doing so many shoots.

Anyway thanks again to all my watchers and everyone who has favorited/commented on one of my deviations. I love you guys!

So I finally bought a "real" camera. I have never used a DSLR before, so I think it's going to be a fun experience. I'm excited, but a bit nervous!!!

So for this contest I want photos of something hidden that you've found in a Disney Park. It doesn't HAVE to be a Hidden Mickey but it can be. I'm thinking of the things you notice when you're in line. The little details that make you smile when you see them. They're all over the place and I want to see what you've found! It can be any Disney Park, but be sure to specify where you found what you found. Which park, which ride, etc.

Example: In Carsland in the queue for Luigi's Flying Tires there is an autographed photo on the board signed by John Lassetyre. :)  Or the Cheshire Cat sign pointing you to the restrooms in Fantasyland in Disneyland. Little things like that which you might not notice at first!

Prizes as follows:

1st Place: 500 Points, a llama (unless I already gave you one!) and a sketch of your favorite Disney animated character

2nd Place: 300 Points and a llama

3rd Place: 150 Points and a llama

**Note that this is not going to be about photo quality, but about fun things you've found in the park!**

Put your entries (limit of 2 per person) into the Contest Folder. Contest ends February 15th and winners will be announced on February 17th.

Have fun!!!

So not much to say. I'm still working on my photography. I'm experimenting more with people and portraits. Hoping to build a portfolio and eventually (fingers crossed!!) make some money.

Hoping to get up to the canyons soon to take pics of the fantastic fall colors. Of course, those of you in New England know that our fall colors in Utah don't hold a candle, but hey, we take what we can get.

Enough rambling. Ciao!

Where Were You?

Never Forget by Gryffingirl77   A Life Cut Short by Gryffingirl77

I was 24 on 9/11/01. I was on my way out the door to work when my mom called to me to say a plane hit one of the Twin Towers in New York. She said it seemed like some crazy accident. So I went to work. I work at a Stock Brokerage firm. By the time I got to work, the second plane had hit and they were realizing it wasn't an accident. Everyone was crowded around the tv in our lobby. The Stock Market closed for 4 days and everyone went home. I spent the day in front of the tv with my Dad and Sister, and my Mom when she got home from work. To this day I have the image of people jumping from the buildings burned into my memory. I can't imagine the terror you would have to feel to jump like that.

Being as old as I was, it's hard sometimes to realize that there are so many people who don't even remember what it was like before 9/11.

Every year there is a display in Sandy, Utah, called the Healing Field. There is a flag for every victim of 9/11. It is a humbling experience to walk through row after row of flags and realize that they all represent a life. It is overwhelming.
